Why is this comic resized down so small? I could read it if I copied its url to a new window though.

We wanted to make a comic comment page that was mostly focused on the comments, but provided a thumbnail of what was being commented on.

Your feedback is definitely helpful. We might look into laying out the page in a different way so we can use a full sized comic.

If it were just a thumbnail, its purpose would be clear. Here, it looks just almost readable, but not quite. And since the funny point of the comic can only be seen when one can read the text, it’s not all that useful.

Doh! I read this comic through the RSS. This is the page I get linked to, and I can’t read the comic.

Sheesh folks, it’s like you guys never been to this website before.
Their newest comic is always on the homepage in full.

You could probably make your comics more accessible from the feeds by making them clickable to see the full size.

other than that, loved this week’s comic!

Well I think the comments are fair, it looks like it’s almost readable but not and the first thing I thought of was that we need to add the ability to click on the comic. I noticed it when I clicked on the RSS, too.

But, I think the suggestion to size it down even smaller to obviosuly be a thumbnail also makes good sense. We’ll investigate that.

It’s a busy weekend for both of us with SxSW and other stuff so hope you guys can be patient =)

Alright. I fixed some of these bugs. See if that’s better…

works like a charm.

May I suggest improvements?

If the database request doesn’t take too much time, load all the comments on the full view page, then display them on demand using a bit of javascript. If javascript is disabled, show them right away. Benefit: If I browse the archives and want to read the comments I need at least one less click (and two less load cycles) to get to the next strip.

If that’s not an option and you have to keep it on a separate page, give the thumbnail a link or button, telling the user to click it in order to go back to full view, ideally surrounded by the same navigation elements of the full view (to either go to the next/previous comments page or to the next/previous full view).

Kind Regards

I’m an ergonomist who’s just started studying computer science. All my developer classmates think that HCI is pointless…I’m gonna forward them all the link to this cartoon…should create a giggle (for me, at least). Maybe they’re even get the point that their design might not be the only/best one.

Nice cartoon.

A friend forwarded this comic to me. I’m currently running usability tests on our library’s website and it’s exactly like that - I can barely restrain myself from ripping the mouse out of their hands, screaming “Let me show you how it’s done!!”

Which pretty much shows that the website needs a lot of work. :)
